Choosing between DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing and heat transfer stickers can be tricky if you’re new to custom apparel printing. Both methods are excellent for branding, apparel decoration, and promotional products, but they differ in process, durability, and material compatibility. Let's break down the key differences.
1. Printing & Application Process
DTF Printing: Uses an inkjet printer to print onto a PET film, followed by adhesive application and heat pressing.
Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV): Requires cutting a design from vinyl sheets, weeding excess material, and applying it via a heat press.
2. Material Compatibility
DTF Transfers: Work on cotton, polyester, blends, leather, and even hard surfaces.
HTV: Best for cotton and polyester but has limited flexibility on other materials.
3. Durability & Washability
DTF Stickers: More wash-resistant, stretchable, and vibrant over time.
HTV: May crack or peel after multiple washes if not applied properly.
Which One to Choose? If you need detailed, full-color prints that last longer and can adhere to various materials, DTF is the superior choice. However, if you're working on small-scale projects with simple designs, HTV may be a budget-friendly option.
